Born Ready is a birth course created by physiotherapists and informed by obstetricians and midwives. It gives you the science behind birth and the knowledge to prepare your mind AND body. Walk away with understanding, skills and strategies to approach birth with confidence and a sense of calm.

Born Ready is made up of 2 hours of online modules along with a 2 hour face-to-face practical workshop – hosted on site at The Studio as a Born Ready affiliate.

Born Ready is unique in its design. It provides a birth preparation option that is cost and time effective, intimate with small group workshops and inclusive, with a strong focus on both the birthing mother AND birth partner.

We are so passionate about sharing this valuable information and are more than happy to chat if you're unsure of your needs.

See the Born Ready website for more information and for practical workshop dates and bookings.

Being active (with care) during pregnancy and post-partum has been clinically proven to support maternal wellbeing. We recommend scheduling a women’s health initial appointment early in your second trimester for a baseline assessment and an informed discussion about your pregnancy, birth and post-partum wellbeing objectives.

Most of our group exercises can be done while pregnant – excluding Reformer Sweat. We also offer pre-natal mat and reformer classes specifically for our pregnant clients. Please inform your instructor of how many weeks along you are, and whether you have any specific circumstances that should be taken into account, and they will tailor your workout as required.

After your baby is born a postnatal assessment is required prior to returning to exercise. We recommend this from roughly 6 weeks postpartum but can do earlier if there are significant abdominal concerns or if you’re feeling ready. Keep in mind a full pelvic floor assessment will not be able to be completed until postpartum bleeding has ceased.

Mastitis is an inflammatory condition of the lactating breast that may or may not be associated with infection.

Mastitis often occurs when there is insufficient drainage of the breast, resulting in stagnant fluid in the milk ducts.

Insufficient or ineffective milk removal may occur due to many factors when breast feeding; a baby's latch, milk supply issues, missed feeds, cracked or damaged nipples or compression due to clothing choices or positioning when feeding.

Common symptoms of mastitis include:

  • Redness of the breast
  • Temperature changes; your breast might feel warm/hot
  • Swelling of an area of or the entire breast
  • Lumps/firm areas in the breast
  • Fever or flu-like symptoms.

Our physiotherapists are trained to treat, relieve and prevent reoccurrence of your symptoms.

In our mastitis care appointments, we provide a thorough assessment and offer a variety of treatment options, including:

  • Therapeutic ultrasound
  • Lymphatic drainage techniques
  • Appropriate exercise
  • Compression garments
  • Education and advice
  • Referral to other health professionals and for further investigation if required.

We find that in many cases antibiotics can be avoided if treated using appropriate anti-inflammatory measures.

We generally ask women to breast feed their baby prior to their appointment and welcome you to bring baby along. Our reception team are always more than happy to provide baby cuddles as needed!

Please note that mastitis care generally requires follow up treatments on back-to-back days. Your treating physiotherapist will discuss the best course of action with you during your initial appointment.

We know how desperate you can feel when suffering from mastitis! If you are unable to find an appointment time online, please call or email reception and we will do our best to accommodate you (even on weekends!)
