Men’s pelvic health
Men's pelvic health physiotherapy can effectively address continence issues, pelvic pain and prostate surgery preparation and recovery.
The Studio’s specialist continence and pelvic health physiotherapist has post graduate training in men’s pelvic health and can help with the management of a range of pelvic health issues affecting men of all ages.
We can help with
- Bladder concerns such as urgency, frequency, stress urinary incontinence, urge urinary incontinence and problems with bladder emptying
- Constipation and straining
- Bowel concerns such as faecal urgency and incontinence
- Pelvic pain
- Pre and post op prostate surgery.
Urinary incontinence, or leakage, is to be expected after prostatectomy as the continence mechanism in men is disrupted with this type of surgery. Pelvic floor muscle exercises can help to prevent or improve urinary incontinence following prostate surgery and may help men regain bladder control earlier.
For best results these exercises should be taught by a qualified and experienced continence and pelvic health physiotherapist prior to surgery, but treatment can also be commenced after surgery.
