B. Sc. Physiotherapy, Hons
Emily hails from the North West of England. She qualified in 2009 from Northumbria University and started her career working in a large NHS hospital setting, caring for people in; paediatrics, neurology, cardiovascular, trauma, elective orthopaedics and musculoskeletal outpatients.
To escape the UK’s inclement weather, Emily moved to New Zealand and worked privately at two Physiotherapy clinics in Wellington. Here Emily trained in Clinical Pilates and widened her scope of practice in the management and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries. During this time she worked in a certified McKenzie clinic specialising in management of acute neck, shoulder and low back injuries. Emily has spent the past 4 years working in diverse practice settings in the Inner West, working with adolescents, pre and post natal women and seniors, allowing her to hone her skills in the treatment of musculoskeletal and sports Physiotherapy, as well as in depth patient education. Emily was drawn to The Studio due to her passion for women’s health, preventative rehab and Rozelle’s coffee!
Emily was involved in an array of sports from an early age including; swimming and representative cricket, netball and athletics. Consequently, she had a few visits to see the physiotherapist herself so speaks from experience.
Emily has worked with representative rugby teams and professional athletes and has a strong orthopaedic rehab background. Emily supplements her hands on treatment with dry needling and educating patients about their injury to improve outcomes.
In her spare time, she enjoys cycling, running and eating her way around Sydney.
